Culex quinquefasciatus<\/em> known as the southern house mosquito is a species of mosquito vector of parasite like nematodes that cause lymphatic filariasis and of viruses such as West Nile virus and St. Louis encephalitis virus. The adult C. quinquefasciatus<\/em> is less than 0.5 cm long. They are brown with narrow cross bands on the abdomen and they have no white bands on the legs. It <\/em>is one species can be found throughout tropical and temperate climates of the world and it belong to the Culex pipiens<\/em> species complex. The genome of Culex quinquefasciatus<\/em> is the third amongst mosquitoes to be sequenced and it has been published in 2010.<\/p>\n
